As an active vine conservationist and pioneer, Michael Gutzler recognized the value of these historic grape varieties early on. After two years of barrel aging in barriques, Michael Gutzler expanded his fine red wine range with this valuable, indigenous red wine variety.
The first vintage of Blauer Arbst at Gutzler can now be experienced.

Old Baden winemakers say, when they go to work in the vineyard, "We're going into the autumn" or "We're going to arbsten." Rediscovered in 2008, this noble Burgundy red wine variety was an important ingredient in the famous red wine blends from Affental, as well as in the "Kallstadter Möhrchen" (Kallstadt Carrot). Uralte, fäulnisresistente Rotweinsorte aus dem Pinot-Umfeld, mit feinem, haltbarem Weinprofil. Stammt von albanischen Stämmen ab, war historisch bedeutend an der Loire und im Rheintal. 2008 wiederentdeckt.
