What does it mean when a wine is dry?

There should be no noticeable sweetness in a dry wine.

Until when is a wine dry?

Even very, very dry wines always have a small amount of residual sugar. This is because the unfermentable arabinose sugar remains after fermentation. A dry wine may have a maximum of 2 g/l of residual sweetness above the total acidity in the wine, capped at 9 g/l.
To be considered dry with 9 g/l, the wine must have at least 7 g/l total acidity.

How is a dry wine made?

During alcoholic fermentation, wine yeasts convert the sugar in the grape must into alcohol. If the winemaker wants this and the yeast succeeds, very little or almost no residual sugar remains at the end. These wines are called "dry."

What does dry wine taste like?

It should NOT taste dusty or astringent. It shouldn't coat the tongue like a sour apple. Despite its lack of sweetness, it should be a harmonious wine.
